Dr. Stephen John Quaye, Assistant Professor in the College Student Personnel Program of the Counseling and Personnel Services Department will discuss some ideas and theories from his book, “Student Engagement in Higher Education: Theoretical Perspectives and Practical Approaches for Diverse Populations.”

Latinos in the Military During WWII

Dr. Victoria-Maria MacDonald, Assistant Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction discusses her research which looks at the experiences of Latino Veterans during WWII.

Robert K. Chester, Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of American Studies explores the politics of images of Latino WWII veterans and soldiers in the postwar period.

Chris Garcia, Residential Facilities Manager, who will share her father’s remarkable story of serving in the US Army Air Corps (later US Air Force) during WWII.

Dialogue— Supporting the Academic Needs of Students of Color
Dr. Christopher Lester, Director of the Office of Multi-Ethnic Student Education has introduced many innovative programs to help students succeed on campus and develop goals for career and life. Come learn some of the strategies and techniques that he has utilized to empower students and increase campus student retention.
